My name is Kelly Schomburg, I’m the girl with the red hair in these pictures. I was protesting at the Occupy Wall Street march yesterday when I and several other women were sprayed with mace and subsequently arrested. Many have already seen the video, which has been spreading like wildfire over twitter, Facebook, tumblr, and other video feeds, along with hundreds of other photos and videos. This is my recount of what happened.

Notice most of the outrageous violence is coming from the white collar officers. These “supervisors” are giving the NYPD a spot in history as destroyers of civil liberties.
Justice for Kelly Thomas

The police officers that beat Thomas with excessive force that resulted in his death, Manuel Ramos and Jay Cicinelli, were charged with second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. If convicted, Manuel would serve 15 years and Cicinelli 5. Though these convictions do not do him full honor, it is very rare for police to be charged at all.
“Police officers have a right to use reasonable force in the performance of a lawful duty but citizens have a right to self-defense, even against the police.”
